If you happen to be in the city on the 8th and 9th of May you won’t want to miss the Passport to the Arts. This is an annual event and has been described as a real ‘art adventure’. It attracts both artists and art enthusiasts from all over the country. All you have to do is head over to Canyon Road and immerse yourself in the world of art. There is an Artists’ reception, an Artist Quick Draw and a live auction of art works on the second day. There is a variety of exhibitions, openings and receptions that will be held at the various galleries and studios on Canyon Road. It is estimated that more than 100 artists will be taking part in the event. For more information visit the event’s official website.
At the end of May we have the East Mountain Fiber Farm & Studio Tour. This takes place on May 30th and 31st and the farm is open from 10 am to 4 pm each day. This is the 12th year for the event and this is a real family day out. Here you get to see up close the fiber animals and learn how the yarn is used to make all kinds of clothes and accessories. The work of the fiber artisans is fascinating and this is an event that should not be missed. You can also enter a prize draw for a basket of goods from the farm and studios.
