Santa Fe Events in January

You might be wondering what Santa Fe has to offer in the month of January.  After all, December was a fairly action-packed month with plenty going on and lot of celebrations.  Surely everybody has run out of steam now and will just be waiting for winter to be over?  Actually, nothing could be further from the truth!

winterbrewsantafeAlmost everyone likes a beer from time to time so why not drop by and find out what’s happening at WinterBrew.  This is the first beer festival of the year and is held at the Farmer’s Market.  Make a note in your schedule and keep January 23rd free.  The event begins at 4 pm and runs until 9 pm.  The New Mexico Brewers Guild organizes the event to promote craft beers. There will be 16 locally-based breweries taking part including two new breweries. Sample beers from brewers such as Taos Mesa, Second Street, Blue Corn, Bosque and Turtle Mountain, among others.  Make sure to grab your tickets early because they sell out quickly! If you like the idea of a cultural weekend then why not make sure that you’re in Santa Fe for the weekend of January 24th & 25th!   The Classical Weekend Orchestra takes place at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.  You can also go to the Artist Dinner that takes place on the 25th and join Per Tengstrand.  However, due to the fact that there’s limited seating you need to make sure that you book your seat well in advance.  You can do this via the Pro Musica Box Office.   Per Tengstrand will be on the piano at the performances and the conductor is Thomas O’Connor.  Featured works will include Stravinsky’s Concerto in E-Flat ‘Dumbarton Oaks’ and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor.  Get your tickets at the box office and to find out more, click here.

If your musical tastes are a little different then why not consider the Big Head Todd and the Monsters concert at the Lensic Performing Arts Center?  This takes place on January 27 and tickets are already on sale so you’ll need to act quickly if you want to attend.  The band was formed in the 1980s and has developed a wide fan following since they started out in the Colorado clubs.  The band’s latest album, ‘Black Beehive’, is a collection of new music.  Find out more by clicking here.
